Frosting Friday

Frosting Friday: Bakerella Edition

So I'm sure many of you have heard of "Bakerella".  I found her blog/website several months ago and was immediately in love with all of her unique creations.  She makes these detailed "cake pops" that are so cute!  And she makes it seem so simple!  She has been talking about and promoting her new book "Cake Pops," and has been on a book tour, stopping by Williams Sonoma stores everywhere.  She isn't coming down south, but I really wish she was!  She keeps posting all the fun pictures from her book tour, I wish I were there!  Actually, I really just wish I had a baking cookbook and I was on a book tour, or a shopping spree to Williams Sonoma would be nice tradeoff.

Book Tour

When I found her website this summer I immediately bookmarked several of her recipes to try for the holidays.  I really thought I was ahead of the curve, but no, Bakeralla was one step ahead of me!  She is the feature on the cover of the Betty Crocker Fall Baking magazine.  She has several recipes in the magazine, not all are Cake Pops, some are some pretty delicious-looking harvest themed desserts.

But this Kindergarten teacher couldn't pass up the cake pops, so here is my attempt.  I will say, the candy melts didn't exactly melt like Bakerellas, I think I need to add a little oil to the mix next time.  But not too shabby for a first try.

I individually wrapped them for the kids in my class, a great treat for the Halloween party.

The other recipe that I found on the website that was also featured in the magazine where these super cute pumpkin pies.  These were pretty simple and I loved the jack-o-lantern detail.  These were also a big hit!

You can find all the recipes in the Betty Crocker book and on Bakerella's website!
