Catchin' Beads from Brees!

The Saints won the Super Bowl!!! I think I'm still trying to let that soak in! I was so excited that the Saints won that I was beaming for days. Two days following the Super Bowl the city of New Orleans organized a "Victory Parade" for the team. I had to go! This was history in the making and I was thrilled to experience it. When I arrived in New Orleans the town was vibrating with excitement, EVERYONE was screaming "Who Dat?!?", wearing black and gold, and overflowing with joy. It was an amazing atmosphere.

My friends and I got to NOLA several hours early in anticipation of the parade, I'm glad we did because the streets were packed. We found a great spot in Lee Circle. We were near the beginning of the route and couldn't wait to see all the players, especially Drew Brees.

Drew Brees was on one of the first floats, he was throwing tons of beads and dancing with the crowd. I actually caught beads from him! I was so excited, I think I must have said 100 times, "I caught beads from Drew Brees!"

The whole experience was great, tons of people, beautiful floats, and amazing team spirit and pride. The players were having as much fun as the people watching. At one point an entire float of players jumped off and started dancing with us! The marching band ahead of them were play "When the Saints Come Marching In," and they started dancing, it was pretty incredible.

I saw it reported that there were between 800,000 - 1 million people at the parade! I believe it!! It took us over an hour to drive 3 blocks once the parade was over. But it was the happiest traffic ever, people were singing and cheering all through the streets and honking their horns to the tune of "Who Dat?!". I don't think anyone wanted the day to end.

It was a memorable day, "Who Dat? Who dat say they gonna beat 'dem Saints?!?"
Here's a wonderful video from the parade I found on YouTube, again, it was so much fun!!
