Touchdown Tennessee!

Over the weekend, Mack and I took a road trip to Knoxville.  His cousin was getting married and the Tennessee Vols were playing.  This was my first trip to Knoxville and my first Tennessee game.  I was in for a fun-filled weekend!

We arrived on Friday night and went straight to campus for a look of the stadium at night.

Mack and his family are life-long Tennessee fans and have lots of school spirit!  I was greeted with this great Vols basket from his aunt and uncle when I got to Knoxville.

The next day was game day!  Tennessee had a noon kickoff against the 10th ranked South Carolina Gamecocks.  And off to Rocky Top we go!

There were so many exciting things happening that I made a top 10 list to summarize game day!

Top Ten Tennessee
Countdown
10. Seeing Marten from "Duck Dynasty" on the field cheering for the Vols.

9. "Tailgate Tennessee" - Mack's cousin had a wedding tailgate to celebrate the upcoming nuptials.  It was beautiful!  We had fun before and after the game tailgating.

8. Seeing the players open the "T" as they ran on the field, this got the stadium really excited for the game. The band was great, they do a super great circle drill at half time with amazing formations.  They even play the opposing team's fight song before the game (after they play "Rocky Top" a thousand times, of course!).

 7. Tennessee played South Carolina, so I had to get a pic of the "Old Ball Coach".  While I was trying to sneak a shot of Coach Spurrier during half-time another famous face was photo-bombing my pic!  Yep, that's the NFL's upcoming top draft pick, Jadeveon Clowney, smiling for the camera!  Looks like he wanted some face time too!

6. Former players were recognized at the game, they are referred to as "VFL" (Vol for Life).  They walked in the Vol Walk and ran out on the field with the team.  Mack played basketball with one of the former players, Chris Walker.  They were super excited to see one another and enjoyed celebrating the win after the game at the tailgate.

 5. Before the game is the "Vol Walk" with the coaches and players.  I got high-fives from head coach Butch Jones and all the players!  I even saw Smokey!

3. Watching the band march into the stadium - ORANGE EVERYWHERE!

3. After the game we ran into to the quarterback, Justin Worley!  Of course I had to have a picture.

2.  The victory celebration in the stadium was out-of-control!  Butch Jones lead the band in "Rocky Top" and the players ran around a high-fived fans in a victory lap.  I got in on the action and leaned over for some celebratory high-fives!

1. The number one moment of game day.....the WIN OVER SOUTH CAROLINA!
We had GREAT seats, we were 7 rows from the field and all of the scoring took place in our endzone. We had a front row seat on all the action.  I got on the jumbotron twice during the game and once again during the the players' victory lap!

Tennessee kicked the game winning field goal into our endzone with 3 seconds left on the clock!  Marking the first win over a ranked opponent in four years.  Neyland Stadium ERUPTED!

Watch the game day video!

What a day!!

We celebrated the victory with dinner at Naples!

Special seating in the "Wine Vault"!

The next day was Mack's cousin's wedding, also referred to as "Bestfest 2013"!

It was the most fun and adventurous wedding I've ever been too!  I was glad to share in all the excitement!

My first trip to Knoxville was great, I think I may have brought the Vols some luck!  Now if some of that luck would rub off on my Golden Eagles!

To the TOP....Rocky Top  :)
