The Big Apple

#laterblog

During spring break I visited New York with my aunt, Sheila, and my cousin, Ellie.  It was a fun girls week, I was so glad to be able to go with them on this fun trip!

We saw two Broadway plays, The Lion King and Annie.

The Lion King was FAB.U.LOUS!  It was so amazing, if you haven't seen it, you must and if you have seen it then you'll agree, see it again!

Annie was also great, Ellie was very excited about it.  She memorized all the songs!

Sheila knew the stage manager for Annie, so afterwards we met the cast and went backstage!

After the plays both nights we took in the sights of Times Square.

Just taking a few pics for the blog, ha!

You're in New York, so you must get a hot dog from a street vendor, right?

Taking in the sights

Look real closely, yes, that's Kathie Lee in the NBC studios!

We couldn't take a tour of the Statue of Liberty because it was under construction from Hurricane Sandy.  But we did take a water taxi and get close.

It was a windy day, crowded taxi, and I ask a very nice (European) to take our photo----This is what happens when a non-English-speaking tourist takes your photo in front of the Statue of Liberty....good times.

Wind element, negative - A photo opp with Lady Liberty just wasn't in the cards this trip.

We visited the American Museum of Natural History - I asked Teddy were Pocahontas was but we couldn't find her.

Central Park

Dessert at Serendipity - Frozen Hot Chocolate

Great lunch at Carnegie Deli - The walls were lined with photos of celebrities that had eaten here.  Very fun place!

One night we got a little tired of waiting on a cab, so we decided we'd take a bike-cab....That provide many laughs!

Poor guy...

After a while, he decided to walk!

A little twitter love -
The first day we were there we ate at this interesting burger place.  I later saw a feature on it on the Travel Channel as one of the best burgers in NYC.

I am a fan of Bravo's "Top Chef" and love Chef Tom Colicchio.  I sent out a little twitter message to see what kind of response I'd get.  Tom Colicchio responded, I'm sure if he would have been in NYC while we were there he would have loved to have had dinner with us.  ;)

Fun times in NYC!
