"I need this recipe!"

"I need this recipe!" That's what I heard over and over again as my teacher friends enjoyed this delicious strawberry cake.

This cake is a family favorite. My mom made it for all types of holidays and family events when I was growing up and it was always "Mom's Strawberry Cake." It's a family staple and it is absolutely delicious!

I made it for an "end-of-the-year" gathering for my teacher friends this week. And just like everyone else who has enjoyed the cake, they went bonkers for it! And kept requesting the recipe, so here it is!

"Mom's Strawberry Cake"

Cake:
1 box Duncan Hines Yellow cake mix
8 ounces sour cream
1/2 cup sugar
4 eggs
1/2 cup oil
1/2 cup water

Icing:
16 ounces powdered sugar
8 ounces, softened cream cheese
12 ounces cool whip

32 ounces frozen, sliced, sweetened strawberries (thawed and drained) (divided three ways, for each layer of the cake)

Grease and flour three round cake pans. Mix all cake ingredients and divide equally into the three cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Cool completely.

Make the icing, mixing powdered sugar and cream cheese. Then blend in the cool whip.

Layer the cake, icing and strawberries, repeat, making three layers. Chill for at least one hour before serving. Keep refrigerated. Enjoy!!
