After our perfect wedding we were blessed to go on a perfect honeymoon. We went to Bora Bora!! It is a once in a lifetime trip and it is more beautiful than any picture you have seen! We stayed at the St. Regis Bora Bora in a hut/bungalow over the water. It was amazing!
Leaving LAX via Air Tahiti! A few time zones to go before we make it to Bora Bora!
Air Tahiti had an eye mask, socks, blanket, and earplugs for all the passengers. It was a LONG flight! We left at midnight and flew all night, but the way the time zones worked, we arrived in Bora Bora about 5:00am the next day.
We landed from Air Tahiti on the main island of Tahiti (Papeete). From there we flew on a much smaller plane to the island of Bora Bora, about a 50 minute flight.
This is when we saw the amazing views of the islands of Tahiti.
And that's Bora Bora!
Once we landed in Bora Bora, we took a boat ride to our resort, the St. Regis. It was about a 20 minute boat ride, we were ready to see our hut!
And we are here!! The St. Regis Bora Bora!! This is the most elaborate resort I have ever seen, it had everything you could think of and the staff were so nice. Since Bora Bora is in the French Polynesia, everyone spoke French. But they quickly translated to English for us!
And we made it to our hut over the water! The hut was awesome, it had glass floors so we could see the water from inside.
This is a picture from our deck. We could just jump right off from our hut into the beautiful waters!
And that is just what we did! As soon as we got our luggage we immediately jumped off into the water right from our hut.
Dinner Night 1
We enjoyed a great breakfast each morning (and of course Mack made sure to bring his Tennessee gear).
We did a few excursions while we were there. The first we did was to explore the islands via ATV and jet ski.
Here were are about to take off on the ATVs.
Our guide brought us to the top of one of the mountains so we could see beautiful views of the island.
After the ATVs, when explored the waters with jet skis. Mack loved this!
Back at the resort, room service delivered by boat!
We had our own butler, Yassin. He was so friendly!!
Yassin delivered hot tea and hot chocolate to our room every morning!
The beach at the resort
The beach had lots to do, we paddle boated and kayaked!
The main means of transportation on the resort were bicycles. They had them everywhere and you could just pick one up and ride it wherever you wanted to go. They were so cute, coming in all shades of fun colors. I loved this!
The resort had it's own lagoon for swimming and snorkeling. We enjoyed the snorkeling!
Dinner at the Lagoon Restaurant - The restaurant had glass bottom floors and you could see the fish and sharks as you enjoyed dinner.
Speaking of sharks..... Another one of the excursions we did was snorkeling....but we snorkeled with SHARKS!!
Our guide brought us to various reefs and feed the sharks to attracted them, then said "Hop in!". I was terrified!
As you can see, Mack wasn't quite as scared!
Look how close he is to that shark!
There were also sting rays at one of the reefs. After some time had gone by and I realized that no one was being devoured, I hopped in for about 2.5 seconds. I did stick my head under and see the sharks and get a quick pic with the sting rays. But then I was back on the boat for safety! Ha!
This was definitely our most memorable excursion. We will never forget all those sharks!!
We also went out one day and took a boat ride around the island. A photographer took a few pictures of us with the beautiful scenery. So glad to have these pictures!
Our last dinner in Bora Bora
Time to say "good-bye" to paradise! We didn't want to leave, it was an amazing trip of a lifetime!
