Frosting Friday

I hosted Bunko at my house last week and had a fall/Halloween theme.  I love all holidays and love a themed event, but I especially love fall.  It may be because its the first burst of the holidays or just the fun of the cooler weather, but whatever it is, it sure is fun to decorate and bake!

Here are some pictures of the sweets from the night...

Chocolate dipped pretzel rods (a personal favorite)

I sort of "made-up" these flavor combinations, trying to get a good fall flavored cupcake.  So its chocolate-chocolate chip-butterscotch chip cupcakes with caramel frosting topped with a candy corn.  I was a little worried about what all this would taste like, but it was a very tasty treat.

And the winning recipe from the night (and the easiest!), caramel apple dip served with fresh apple slices.  I found this recipe at The Zumwalt Family blog several months ago and was waiting for the right fall occasion to try it.  I am glad I did!!  It was so great and everyone wanted to recipe!

Apple Dip
1- 8 ounce package cream cheese, softened
1 box powdered sugar
1 container caramel apple dip
1/2 bag of mini-heath bar candy, chopped
6-8 apples, sliced (I used Granny Smith apples)

Cream sugar and cream cheese together.  Spread into bottom of 8x8 dish, layer caramel dip next, sprinkle chopped heath bar on top.  Serve with sliced apples.  Delicious!

I found some cute Halloween cupcakes to try for my K class, I'll post them soon :)

Happy Baking!
